Living with water

Fetsund, nestled at the end of Norway's largest water basin, enjoys a unique geographical location that offers both opportunities and challenges. We are proposing a comprehensive framework plan for Fetsund residents to harmonize urban life with the river's natural dynamics. Given the significant flood potential, we recommend constructing an embankment along the river's edge to protect the city from flooding. Additionally, in selected areas, we will create a flood park to allow the river to expand safely during high water events. To manage rainwater, we propose a wetland park that seamlessly integrates the nearby nature reserve with the city center. In the town square, water features will be incorporated for play and managed through vegetation, enhancing both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
